Stylish Winter Wedding Decor Ideas

While some brides love the vibes of a summer wedding, we think there’s a lot to be said about the beauty of a winter ceremony!

The temperature, the festive decor, the glittery colors, and the general magic of the time of year with Christmas and New Year all lend to a wonderful atmosphere.

When it comes to styling your winter wedding, you’ve got quite a lot of options. Couples can lean into the Christmas-y theme with reds and greens, or instead go for a stylish, snowy theme with a lot of whites, muted blues, greens, and metallics. Of course, a glittery touch on everything will look amazing, particularly if the ceremony is in a frosty location.

Flowers bring beauty and life to any space, and present the opportunity to put the couple’s own flair and personality into an arrangement.

For a winter wedding, we love the idea of pale green flowers paired with white blooms. It’s a simple yet elegant color palette, which will match whatever other decor you choose. A bouquet of large white roses with green foliage would be stunning as centerpieces, or even as the bridal bouquet.

Cypress is an obvious option for winter arrangements, reminiscent of classic Christmas trees. Meanwhile, the basic size and shape of eucalyptus leaves make them great additions to any bouquet.

Floral arch

Your best bet for fresh flowers during winter are roses and amaryllis. Admittedly, it’s not always easy to get your hands on fresh blooms during the colder months, so maybe fake flowers would be a good alternative. Door frames

Turn a normal door into a Christmassy portal by making your own garland or wreaths. Again, eucalyptus is a great option here –– you can wind it around door arches and use the same style garlands as table runners or along stairways.

For a winter wonderland theme, you can’t go past mistletoe and white berries for a touch of magic. Even just a small amount hanging around doors, wound around chairs, or suspended from the ceiling will go a long way in bringing your decor together.

Similarly, you can hang wreaths in or above windows for an extra festive touch. 

 

TABLE NUMBERS

Often one of the last things on the list, it’s still important to have chic table numbers that match the rest of the wedding. Calligraphed numbers are easy, but it’s always worth putting in a little more effort. WEDDING CENTERPIECE IDEAS FOR WINTER

Whether you’re going for a monochromatic winter wonderland, or a red and white extravaganza, it’s a good idea to hunt down some white or glass vases for the centerpieces.

A low white ceramic bowl, for example, would look stunning if filled with overflowing green foliage and a couple of red flowers –– and equally beautiful with white blooms and metallic accents.

For a more low-key look, a smaller bud vase in the same white ceramic can be filled with a few stems to add interest without taking up too much space. A tall olive branch spray would look right at home in a white floral centerpiece on tables or standing arrangements.

LIGHTING AND CANDLES

White candles are a must –– they add beauty and light, and are well suited to a winter theme. If you’re having a black-tie wedding, crystal candlesticks will be perfect when set at intervals along the tables. Don’t be scared off if they sound too stuffy –– we’ve got some great modern candlestick shapes too.

For a more rustic look, tea lights in small crystal holders look lovely, especially when the glass is etched to give off interesting light patterns. 

Don’t want to deal with the potential hazards of open flames and dripping wax? Fake L.E.D. candles aren’t as tacky as they sound! In fact, these tall taper candles are made of real wax and even gently flicker. L.E.D. tea lights are also an option, and a good way to line an outdoor pathway. 

It’s unlikely that you’ll be having any outdoor sections of your reception if it’s the middle of winter, but fairy lights are just as beautiful indoors as they are when strung in trees.

One unique way to display string lights or vintage LED bulbs is by winding them into a cute birdcage, which you can then hang from the ceiling or place on side tables. Our white birdcage also makes a wonderfully striking visual when filled with foliage and fake birds or butterflies.

OVERHEAD DECOR 

Not everyone thinks about overhead decor when planning an event, but a winter wedding means that you can really lean into a snowy theme. Large white pom-poms hanging from the ceiling will immediately invoke the feeling of winter, especially when the rest of your decor is silver and white.
